The Staff

Angeina HardyAngelina Hardy - Executive Director
angelina@newberncivictheatre.org

A former Marine, Angelina discovered New Bern Civic Theatre in 2006 performing in Neil Simon’s Rumors.  Exhilarated by the experience, she grasped every chance to learn as much about theatre from set painting to directing, gaining a wealth of knowledge as well as a position on the NBCT staff as Administrative Assistant in 2007.

In addition to administrative responsibilities, she began to explore other opportunities including fundraising, sponsorship, advertising, and public speaking to raise funds as well as awareness for the Theatre and all it has to offer to the community.

June YatesJune Yates - Office Manager
nbct@newberncivictheatre.org

A native of Virginia, June moved to New Bern in 1996 after retiring from a successful career in the insurance industry.  In addition to her career, she was active in a number of non-profit organizations and served on their Board of Directors.

Her love of the performing arts led her to New Bern Civic Theatre in the fall of 1999.  With her knowledge, experience, and drive, June quickly established a reputation of professionalism and was hired as an employee.   After a brief break from the Theatre, June was asked to return and has been working since as New Bern Civic Theatre’s Office Manager.

Her devotion, not only to the Theatre but for New Bern as a community, has been an inspiration to many.

Leo retired to New Bern in 1999 after spending the majority of his professional career in the Computer industry working for IBM and Hewlett-Packard. He began volunteering at the New Bern Civic Theatre in 2002 when he built the train car for Music Man.

He has worked primarily in the technical areas running lighting and sound for productions including Joseph & The Technicolor Dreamcoat, Barefoot in the Park, Music Man, Grease (2006), Charlie's Aunt, Sound of Music, and many Children's Productions and workshops. He is a member of the New Bern Civic Theatre Board of Directors and currently serves as its Treasurer. Leo has assumed the additional role as Board Executive on-site assisting with daily management of theatre operation.

He and his wife Dorothy are proud parents of six grown children who have made them Grand Parents to nineteen grandchildren and lots of places to visit when they are not working at NBCT.

Tom LandenTom Landen - Theatre Consultant

Tom Landen grew up in Wilmington, N.C., discovered New Bern in the early 90s, and moved here in 1996.  He retired from WBTV in Charlotte after 27 years as a photographer, production manager and studio supervisor.  Tom freelanced still photography in the area photographing the campers at Camp Seagull and SeaFarer for their brochure.

Tom’s first experience with NBCT was Summer Heat-Cool Music as lighting and sound director.  He directed, with Betty Tracy as music director, A Holiday Music Showcase and continued to participate in various productions in a variety of roles.  NBCT hired Tom in 2001 as Theatre Manager which continued until 2003.  After a brief retirement, Tom returned to become Managing Director in 2004 and retired again in 2007. Tom returned in 2009 as Executive Director for a period of time and now serves as Theatre Consultant.

Tom is married to Penny Jones Landen and has eight grandchildren.  Fishing and being outdoors plus being part of NBCT are his pastimes.
